who:
what: Weston Mill (aka Van Nest Mill), over the Millstone River
where: Wilhousky St / Weston Causeway, heading into Manville from Franklin Twp
when: May 31, 1982

This mill (built in the early 1700's) was the scene of a Revolutionary War incident in 1777, as Continental militiamen attacked Bristish soldiers stealing supplies from the mill.

The back supports of the building apparently collapsed, bringing the mill down with a loud crash, about 6 a.m.

Wilbur Smith, owner of the mill since 1912, had been in the process of refurbishing part of the building for his Smith Electrical Co., which sold appliances.
